UNIMI Unit
Prof. Maria Vittoria Dozzi (Unit Leader)
M.V. Dozzi (MVD) is Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Milan (UniMi).
MVD received her PhD degree in Chemical Sciences in 2012 at UniMi with a thesis on TiO2 photoactivity optimization by means of structural and surface modifications, for which she was awarded with the “Giovanni Semerano” prize of the Physical Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society. Part of her thesis was done at the Catalysis Research Center of Hokkaido University in Sapporo (Japan), under the supervision of Prof. B. Ohtani. For several years MVD mainly focused on the mechanistic aspects of photocatalysis on TiO2-based semiconductors for environmental and energy applications. Recently, her attention has been devoted to the development of efficient ternary metal oxide-based photo(electro)catalysts for solar energy conversion.
MVD published 63 papers on international journals and one book chapter with more than 2400 citations. Her present H-index is 26 (Scopus).
Prof. Mariangela Longhi
M. Longhi (ML) is Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Milan (UniMi).
ML received her PhD degree in Chemical Sciences in 1999 at UniMi with a thesis of electrocatalytic studies of oxygen evolution on cobalt-based materials. In 2000 she obtained the Doctorate Award “Fondazione De Nora” of the Electrochemical Division of the Italian Chemical Society. Her research activity has been focused on synthesis, chemico-physical characterization and kinetic studies of different materials (metal oxides, carbons, bulk and nanostructures) as electrocatalysts toward oxygen evolution reaction and oxygen reduction reaction. Her interests have been also addressed to organic electrocatalysis of electroreduction of organic halides and preparation/characterization of nanoparticle materials (carbon nanostructures, conductive oxides, silica, ceria, and tungsten trioxide).
ML published 54 papers on international journals. She is also co-inventor of a patent about Pt-free materials for oxygen reduction reaction.
Ms. Laura Vigni
L. Vigni (LV) graduated cum laude in Chemistry in April 2022 with a thesis entitled “Visible light sensitization of TiO2 photoanodes by coupling with Mo-doped BiVO4” under the supervision of Prof. M.V. Dozzi.
LV is currently working as a PhD student at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Milan (UniMi) supervised by Prof. M.V. Dozzi.
Her research activity as PhD student is focused on the development of copper based catalysts for electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction reaction.
