Lorenzo Mino (LM) is Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry and member of the group of “Physical Chemistry for Surfaces and Interfaces” at University of Torino. He is currently supervisor of 2 postdocs, 1 PhD student and 4 MSc students. 

LM is expert in nanomaterials characterization combining laboratory and synchrotron based techniques. His research interests are particularly focused on the investigation of the structure activity relationships in nano structured (photo)catalysts and in the study at the molecular level of reactions at solid surfaces combining spectroscopic techniques and DFT calculations. He published > 80 papers on journals indexed by Scopus, which received more than 1900 citations (H-index 23), and 6 book chapters.

LM presented 25 oral contributions at conferences (9 invited talks). His research received several awards including the “Alfredo Di Braccio Prize” by Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, the “Young Scientist Award” by the Italian Synchrotron Radiation Society, and the “Graduate Student Award” by the European Materials Research Society.

Elizaveta Kozyr (EK) earned her Bachelor's degree in Physics and her Master's degree in Nanoscale Structure of Materials at Southern Federal University (Russia). She obtained her PhD in Chemistry and Materials Science from the University of Torino in 2024 under the supervision of Prof. Lorenzo Mino.

Since November 2024, EK has been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Torino. Her work focuses on photo- and electrocatalytic materials for CO2 conversion, hydrogen production, and renewable fuels, investigated through multi-technique in situ and operando approaches combining X-ray absorption spectroscopy with FTIR/DRIFTS, UV-Vis, Raman, and electron microscopy.

EK has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed journal publications, including five as first author, and has participated in more than 20 synchrotron experiments at major European facilities.
